About Us

Transforming communities with energy

Our background

Bringing in-depth energy knowledge and experience

Mirabou Energy was founded in 2018 but our involvement in Australia’s energy sector started decades ago.

James Reynolds, our founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), has worked in Australia’s energy sector for more than 20 years in all Australian jurisdictions.

  • Our Team

Mirabou is made up of a dedicated group of senior executives from the energy, mining and heavy production industries.

  • Our Background

Every member of our team comes with decades of experience, be it in renewable energy, business, strategy, finance, engineering or project management and construction.

our vision

Transforming communities and businesses with energy

We want to be the trusted partner in creating environmentally and financially sustainable energy solutions for Australian communities and businesses.

At Mirabou, we see energy as a platform for transformation – for governments, business, other stakeholders and the community.

We believe in developing sustainable energy solutions that meet the energy needs of stakeholders and that positively contribute to the communities in which we operate.

Our vision is work with any stakeholder to develop energy assets which:

  • provide a secure, affordable and cleaner power supply
  • increase economic opportunities
  • build resilience and capacity (eg. increase local employment).

In fact, that’s what we’re doing right now across Queensland. Mirabou Energy is developing projects in South East Queensland, South West Queensland, Central Queensland and Far North Queensland.

We’re particularly proud of our partnerships with communities in Queensland’s Gulf Savannah and the Torres Strait to investigate the development of renewable energy assets.

The energy transition is underway

Until recently, we received our electricity via large power stations (usually coal-fired) distributed by a centralised grid.

In the future, the central grid will bring wind and solar power to communities. But there will be as much solar energy being delivered locally.

As more renewable energy sources come online, our electricity grid is not just decarbonising, it’s decentralising.

This mix of centralised and local renewable energy delivery is likely to create reliability and affordability challenges. Community-led and community-based energy solutions will prove to be invaluable in stabilising our electricity grid and providing more affordable and reliable energy.
